The boutique, snuggled within The Peninsula, is over 1,500-square feet and designed to evoke the classic interiors of Coco Chanel's Paris apartment. It will of course boast a hidden VIP salon, along with all the quilted bags and black and white skirt suits you could dream of, so long as you're dreaming of pricetags in the 4-to-5-digit range. But then if you're staying at The Peninsula and you've got those fantastic hotel closets to fill, then it shouldn't be a problem; just a little light shopping, right?
If you're a fan of Peninsula Hotels and have always wanted a Chanel bag, then we'd recommend holding out for the special red leather Paris-Shanghai bag, inscribed on the interior with "Shanghai Karl Lagerfeld." Most of the collection will be red as well, because of the luck and good fortune associated with the color in Chinese culture. So break out the red matte lipstick and heels, and head down to the Bund for a little luxurious window shopping, or just stick to preview site for the release of that short film and runway show the day after.
