Our first thought when we saw these pictures from Lady Gaga’s latest photoshoot: ah, the rapier wit strikes again.

But when we looked beyond the blinding symbolism of a Hello Kitty chastity belt covering her bitsies, we spied something rather familiar. “Why, isn’t that the underground Masonic Temple in the bowels of Andaz London?” we asked ourselves.

So we asked the folk at Andaz. And yes, it is.

They told us the shoot took place earlier this summer as part of Bravo’s new reality show, Double Exposure which is apparently scheduled to air in January next year, and follows photographer Markus Klinko and his assistant Indrani around the world.

The pair stayed at Andaz for a week in June, and as part of the show, they wanted to shoot in the Temple. The plan was to shoot Naomi Campbell, but she’d only do it if they all went to Paris. So, seeing as Gaga was in town, they roped her in.

And would you believe it? Apparently, Gaga was ”one of the nicest celebs we’ve had here.” She left her diva pretensions at the back door, when she walked past the recycling bay and the rubbish bins, talked to everyone, and, surprise surprise, “looked really cool even before hair and make up.”

Sadly the same couldn’t be said for her manager, who nearly reduced some staff to tears for not bringing him his sandwiches quick enough (how rock’n’roll), and refused to take responsibility the next day for damage caused by the production team knocking big metal buttons off the doors.

You may be a maniac, Gaga, but we’re loving your choice of hotel. Just try not to destroy it for the rest of us, ok? Oh and next time, can we have you posing with Damian Barr? His Paul Smith PJs would set off your gussets rather beautifully.
