Okay. There are officially 31 days until Winter Solstice (a.k.a. the shortest day of the year) and we’re already going a little stir-crazy with the decrease in daylight and the plunging temperatures. The solution? Head to warmer locales, like Borrego Springs in the Southern California desert.

Sure, springtime may steal this remote desert destination’s tourist thunder with its insanely beautiful display of wildflowers at Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, but wintertime temps that hover around 70 degrees are what call our name. Right. About. Now. Besides, is there anything more spectacular than seeing the moon come up over the desert? Nah, not really.

Right now, Borrego Ranch Resort & Spa has lowered its prices to a wallet-friendlier rate of $295 per night (per person), giving warm weather-seekers no excuse for staying home. The all-inclusive rate buys resort guests:

• Overnight accommodations in a Deluxe Queen or Deluxe King room (all rooms have fireplaces and a private patio)
• A round of Tom Fazio Signature Golf or a 50-minute spa treatment at Morado Spa (or $125 towards spa treatment of choice; popular picks include the Desert Grounding Massage, Detoxifying Massage and Sea Plant Wrap, and The Borrego Tres Facial)
• Breakfast, lunch and dinner daily at either Cimarron or La Cantina restaurants, exclusive of in room dining, alcohol or gratuity.
• A variety of daily fitness programs and activities

If you want to soak up the area’s starry skies, plan a stay over December 11, 13 or 14, 2009 when renowned astronomer, Dennis Mammana, will conduct stargazing programs. Total science geek side note: Borrego Springs was designated as California's first International Dark-Sky Community by the International Dark-Sky Association this past summer.

Wow. I think this would be a great place to unwind plus it is cheaper that means that I don't have to use my payday loans just to visit this place. I cant wait until the holiday starts so that I can really visit this.
