Curbed recently put out the first of what will be many lists across the internet universe, saying goodbye to the aughts. But this being Curbed, they focused on the The Best New Buildings of The Decade for New York City. And wouldn't you know it? The Standard Hotel is the #1 best building of the decade.

Yes, The Standard. Since we tracked the opening of this hotel pretty much from its inceptions, we're a little surprised to see it top this list. We say it looks way better from the inside looking out then just on its own. But we guess naked people in the windows helps.

Here are some of our favorite moments of the Standard NYC...through the years.

· January 2007: The hotel is halfway there. It reminds us of a municipal courthouse from the 1950s. Throughout the rest of the year we kept very close tabs on its construction progress.
· April 2008: Rainbow drapes appear.
· August 2008: The Standard starts to look like a real building.
· September 2008: We attend the Construction Chic party for Interview magazine. The hotel was not open.
· December 2008: Standard puts out the patio furniture. Then it opens on December 21.
· January 2009: We spend the night inside the Standard.
· October/November 2009: Ordering humble pie and learning that guests get kicked out of Boom Boom room at 9pm.

Agree. It's certainly the most-hyped. Nationwide even, with all the freaking coverage that the hotel, the new nightclub, the restaurant and the interior design alone has received. Of course, we aren't helping by talking about it right now. Anyways, other liken it to Soviet or Cuba design, but I've been feeling the 1960s grove it's got from the first.
