Hollywood seems drawn to the Terranea Resort's scenic location. Although the hotel's new, its oceanfront site is a veteran in the movie biz, serving as the backdrop for blockbusters such as the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy, Aviator, Pearl Harbor and the Charlie’s Angels reboot. The Hollywood hubbub inspired the hotel to create new movie industry-themed camps for kids and teens.

The camps, available during winter, spring and summer breaks, will cover movie production, video game creation, stunt work and fashion design. Here are the options for your little filmmaker.

· Movie production camp
Your young Scorsese can create short videos from development to production. After editing and adding special effects, he'll take home a DVD of his great work.

· Video game creation camp
The hotel touts this camp as a good lesson in math and logic, but your kid will be sold with the promise of creating her own interactive video game with just a few clicks.

· Fashion camp
This will be like a mini Project Runway with kids researching trends and style icons, designing their own looks, shoping for fabrics, and presenting their line in a fashion show. Campers will leave with an outfit they styled or piece of clothing that they constructed, along with either a DVD of the fashion show or still shots from a photo shoot of their designs.

· Jedi training camp
Little Star Wars fans can be one with the force in this camp. Kids create their own Jedi character and develop their coordination through training games and study astronomy to stress the "Star" in Star Wars. Students also learn how to fight with lightsabers, just as it is taught to Hollywood stunt pros.

· Fencing camp
Campers can go en garde and learn fencing. Kids receive instruction in footwork and technique, take part in fencing drills and games, learn about the history of fencing and compete in an in-class tournament.

Camps begin the week of December 19 and the five-day sessions run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. You don't have to be a hotel guest to participate in the camps, though you'll get a special $195 rate if you decide to stay during camp. The cost ranges from $380 to $750 and includes a buffet lunch daily.
