You know how much we love our cocktails here at HotelChatter. We'll find any reason to celebrate with a cocktail and fortunately for us (but not for our liver), hotels feel the same way. We've slurped down Summer Cocktails and Halloween Cocktails and now we're ready for the main event, Holiday Cocktails. We'll be taking a look at these concoctions all season long. If you have a suggestion, don't hold out on us. (Photos, recipes and prices are helpful too!)

The weather outside is (nearly) frightful, but indulging in a warm cocktail is always delightful. The Summit at The Broadmoor is getting into a bone-warming state of mind their Hot Holiday Cider. With good reason, too – overnight temperatures in Colorado Springs have been dipping into the teens. Brr....

The recipe for this winter warmer is really simple. Not only will it make your house smell yummy, it’s sure to fill your guests with holiday cheer, a little bit of nostalgia, and depending upon how many they suck down, the rum-fueled courage to face inevitable family drama. If you can’t escape to Summit, here’s how to recreate the warm liquid delight at home:

Summit’s Hot Holiday Cider

1-½ oz. Pampero Aniversario (or a dark, aged rum)
½ oz. brown sugar simple syrup
Squeeze of lemon
3 oz. Apple Cider (to make a quart of spiced cider, heat one quart cider with a pinch of allspice, ten cloves and five cinnamon sticks.)
Add any festive holiday garnish (cinnamon stick, dried apple segment, mini candy cane, etc.)

Don't feel like playing the role ofBrian Flanagan? Hit up The Broadmoor for the spiked cider which costs $10.25.
