Chicago's Palmer House Hilton is getting into the holiday spirit with its new series of Joffrey Nutcracker Teas with the famed company's ballerinas and danseurs making an appearance.

The teas, held Saturdays through December 26, kick off on November 21 with the lighting of the Christmas tree at the South Loop hotel's grand lobby. Kiddies can help decorate the tree beforehand and garnish some Nutcracker cookies.

Dancers from the Joffrey Ballet will be there to help, decked out in costumes from the traditional Christmastime ballet, which they are performing at the nearby Auditorium Theatre starting December 11. Chef Phillip Foss from the Palmer House Hilton's Lockwood restaurant will also attend the tea to give some treat-decorating tips.

But the teas aren't only for the little ones. Adults will find here's nothing cozier than spending a winter afternoon in the storied hotel with a hot cup of tea. As far as eats, there will be a traditional afternoon teatime spread of scones with Devonshire cream, lemon curd and strawberry preserves; assorted finger sandwiches; and pastries—which should be delectable, since the Palmer House invented the brownie. And to cap off the event, you'll get gift bags.

The teas are from 2 to 4 p.m. Tickets cost $35 for adults, or $45 if you want to add a glass of bubbly, and $25 for kids. Reservations are required.
