A rich, dramatic color palette of gray and aubergine with neutral accents of ivory and caramel will convey a sophisticated, urban feel. Seating in plush, high-contrast upholstered velvets and silky fabrics will be paired with rich rosewood, mahogany, maple and walnut finishes. A handcrafted Schonbek crystal chandelier surmounting the dining table will lend romantic allure. Luxe shagreen fabric, burnished gold leaf, bronze, mirror and glass will add glamorous touches, along with sumptuous purple velvet draperies and opulent silk accent walls.
The hotel will remain open during the remodeling and Trump's PR team promises "a seamless, quiet transition invisible to guests". But we all know what construction in a still-open hotel means: dust, hammers, and cheaper room rates! No word yet on whether the rates will drop here but we can't help wondering if these renovations might actually give us and other mere mortals a chance to afford the Trump International.
The work will take place in two stages: January through April and then June through September. They expect to unveil the new look next Labor Day.
So, kids take note: if Miley and the Jonas brothers are in town between now and then, you might want to look for them downtown in the Trump SoHo instead. It's set to open February 1st.
