Fairmont Gives You One Less Excuse Not to Work-Out On the Road

We’ll admit we can justify pretty much any detractor as grounds not to exercise — particularly while traveling. Forgotten running shoes? Wouldn’t want to get injured. Alpha male showing off on the other treadmill? Eh, we’ll try again later when things are less intimidating.

Not to mention, personal TV screens — or a kick-butt iPod mix — are pretty much must-haves. Some hotels, for their part, have made it less easy to skip our workouts, like Fairmont Hotels. In addition to partnering with Adidas to provide exercise clothes and shoes, Fairmont is now also letting guests check out fully loaded iPods, complete with songs and playlists.

Of course, there’s one teensy catch: iPods only feature EMI artists (think radio darlings Coldplay, Lenny Kravitz, Norah Jones), which makes sense considering the hotel and label joined forces earlier this year to offer the Fairmont Music Store, an online music shop designed to entice guests to join the hotel chain’s loyalty program.

Here are some more detes on the program that we got from Fairmont Hotels:

Each hotel has about 10 devices (most are Zen players from Creative - though we are looking at using iPods in the future) and all are preloaded with more than 500 tracks. All of the music has been carefully selected to appeal to Fairmont guests based on feedback/research from our Fairmont President's Club members.

We have a number of genre focused playlists pre-loaded onto the players and some of these include Classical and Jazz, Indie Rock, Lounge, Oldies and Classics, Running Music, Today's Rock and Pop, Top 40, Walking Music, World, and more.
