Socialites, smoking jackets, and stiff cocktails all come to mind when we think of San Francisco's Huntington Hotel. When we say it's old school, we mean it: Think jacket required, heavy wood accents, and decor that's world's away from what you might find at hyper-modern hotels like The Clift and W. Here it's a decidedly older crowd that reigns supreme, but that doesn't make it any less of a novelty experience for young travelers.

The Huntington is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year, and in it for guests who give a defiant finger to the recession is a package that's all over-the-top frills. It's only available through December 30th of this year, so you'll need to whip out your credit card soon if you want to take advantage of their one-night $850 "deal." That's right, $850 qualifies as a bargain basement rate according to The Huntington.

To be fair, the package does feature more than your average "Continental breakfast included" perks. If you're plunking down that much cash, then you won't be disappointed to be treated with a stay in the Mulholland Suite (normally $1,200 per night), Mulholland luxury leather garment bag ($550 value), bottle of champagne, complimentary access to some of Nob Hill Spa's facilities, and a chauffeured sedan from the hotel to Downtown and the Financial District.

And for those whose budget is more, say, Chanel lipgloss than Chanel 2.55 purse, you can always make a reservation at the Huntington's Big 4 restaurant for a literal taste of what the hotel offers. Our last meal there was a steak and red wine extravaganza that was every bit as decadent as we expected it to be, spared no expense—especially not on our charge card.
