The New 'Biggest Loser' Resort Reinvents Adult Fat Camp

Where: 760 South 200 W [map], Ivans, UT, United States

Alright, we're stuck for words on this one: NBC's show The Biggest Loser has expanded its franchising to include a full-on fitness resort in Utah, only 90 minutes away from the capital of gluttony: Las Vegas. The Biggest Loser Resort Fitness Ridge is everything you could ever hope for from what is essentially a "fat camp" for adults: a secluded location, a big pool, in-room DVD players, a class called "living drums," and a gift shop.

Of course, since it is a fat camp, you'll be jogging around in the desert, treading water in that pool, watching DVDs on nutritional eating, and pounding the heck out of fitness balls in your "drumming class." And there's not a single Snickers bar to be found in the gift shop. Oh man, we are shaking in our spandex pants at the thought.

According to the LA Times, The Biggest Loser Resort "mimics the life that contestants live on [the show]." Guests will pay over $2,000 per week to "adhere to a 1,200-calorie diet and rise at 6 a.m. to begin a day filled with hiking, cooking, fitness and nutritional classes, and lots more working out." You'll probably crash before lights out at 10pm, and we're sure you're thrilled at the thought of doing this for seven or more days, as one week is the minimum stay.

The Biggest Loser Resort is by no means the first such fat camp weight-loss resort on the scene, but they are the first to be based on a reality tv show. We wonder if that authentic Biggest Loser experience includes teary breakdowns, unflattering team outfits, and enough sweat to top off the outdoor pool.

Fun note: when you're on their homepage, the browser tab says "Loser Resort at Fitness Ridge." HA.

    Fitness Ridge!

I've been there - it is very sparten...no caffine, no cocktails, no frills!!  But, I lost 10 pounds and had a few laughs in between the death hikes every morning.....the food is o.k. - somedays are better then others - I can't see spending more then 1 week there though!
