Jumping on the pink-ribbon-filled Breast Cancer Awareness Month bandwagon, The Peninsula Chicago offers month-long specials to benefit the cause.

The hotel shows its true colors with a rosy-hued backlit entrance and logo as part of the Lynn Sage Cancer Research Foundation's annual Light the Way to Find a Cure campaign to remind ladies about the importance of doing self-exams on their tatas. The two marble lions flanking the Pen's entrance also got swathed in pink ribbons for the occasion.

Aside from the outward signs of its support, the Pen is putting its money where its pink ribbons are. If you take afternoon tea, served in the lobby from 3 to 5 p.m., $2 will be donated to Lynn Sage. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the hotel is offering a special pink tea, Mighty Leaf's Organic Berry Wellness, a caffeine-free blend of strawberries, cranberries, blueberries, goji berries and elderberries.

An extra incentive to buy a cuppa is that afternoon tea guests will get to sip and watch informal fashion shows during Fashion Focus Chicago from Escada (Oct. 20), Neiman Marcus (Oct. 21), Giorgio Armani (Oct. 22), J. Mendel (Oct. 23) and Ultimo with jewelry by Sidney Garber (Oct. 24).

If you need something a bit more substantial than tea and pastries, dine at Avenues or Shanghai Terrace and $5 of your check will be donated to Lynn Sage. But you have to mention "breast cancer awareness" to ensure the donation.

You can also help out the cause with some pampering in the spa. Get a one-hour-or-longer treatment at The Peninsula Spa by ESPA and $5 will be donated to Lynn Sage. Try the hour-long Jet-lag Eliminator wrap for $155 to replenish yourself. Again, you have to do some work and be sure to say "breast cancer awareness" when you go to pay.

For something more affordable, opt for the spa's $31 classic manicure and a portion of proceeds will go to Bright Pink, a national non-profit for young women at risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
