Todd English Skips Out On His Wedding, Heads to W South Beach
Todd English, seen here with hotelier Jason Pomeranc.
Some folks may think celeb chef and soon to be hotelier Todd English is mighty foxy but we're not one of them. We can't really explain why but it's probably because of his eyebrows. Just had to put that out there.
Still, he was named one of People magazine’s 50 Most Beautiful People in 2001 and he's been steadily expanding his restaurant empire. He even worked in a guest judge appearance on this season's Top Chef (Olives at The Bellagio is his restaurant.) But women might be leery of English now that he left his bride-to-be, Erica Wang, at the altar over the weekend.
Was it a case of cold feet (English has two previously failed engagements and a divorce on his relationship resume)? A mutually decided upon moment of clarity for both of the to-be-betrothed? Or call us super cynical, but the thought has crossed our mind that maybe Todd is the mystery man that knocked up a certain Top Chef host, whose managed to keep mum about the sperm donor and due date. Again, just had to put that out there.
Wang was left trying to make the most out of the (already paid for) wedding weekend. She donned a black dress as she partied with 150 out-of-town guests at her non-wedding reception at The St. Regis New York. According to the New York Post:
Wang's closest friends and family packed into the posh party space 20 stories above Fifth Avenue. Nicknamed "The Roof" because of its ceiling mural depicting the night sky, the penthouse of the famed five-star hotel was decked out in a red-and-white Asian theme. The massive 3,500- square-foot space, decked out in plush draping and ornate chandeliers, was festooned with blood-red cascading flowers and roses.
Meanwhile, English high-tailed it to Miami and was spotted whooping it up at Wall at W South Beach. Hmm...that doesn't seem like "Respect my privacy" type of behavior (which he requested in a public statement about the non-wedding) now, does it?
