The countdown to the opening of San Francisco's Crescent Hotel is on, with its official unveiling set for October 21st. Hotelier Gregory Peck staked a claim on prime Union Square real estate (the former Allison hotel), gutting the property and giving it a 'classic San Francisco with a modern twist' look.

If you left your heart in San Francisco, then you'll be happy to hear about site-specific touches that we previously reported on, including iPod playlists crafted by local DJs, a locally-focused wine program to enjoy in room, and library with "West Coast-centric" reading material.

Union Square may be convenient location-wise, but we typically brace ourselves for room prices in the mid-to-upper hundreds to start with, and definitely higher if you plan on going really high-end. But the Crescent, whose sister hotels are New York's Cooper Square and Crescent Beverly Hills, has—shocker of shockers—rooms starting at $105 as part of a Grand Opening sale. Thanks for the heads-up, Quikbook Twitter account.

We ran room searches for the two weeks post-opening, but had no luck with availability. Jump forward to November, however, and—bingo!—up pops that $105 rate for Crescent Junior Queen accommodations. The magic of Quikbooks, unlike so many other hotel discounts, is that you don't have to dig through the multi-layered strata of a hotel's website to find the deal, or even have to make a direct call to make sure it exists. Just register on the site, punch in the requisite information, and you're fast on your way to Dealville, not to mention a stay at The Crescent.
