Ah The May Fair, how we love your quirky ideas. In-room Nobu, in-house jeans, celebs on tap, and the latest ruse - Cocktails & Cupcakes, which launched this week, and combines two of our favourite things, sugar and booze.

For £20, their new take on afternoon tea - set in the bar - gives you tea and coffee-flavoured cocktails (Caramel Espresso Martini, Peppermint Tea Martini, or the intriguing-sounding, Chamomile, Spiced Rum & Pomegranate cocktail, served hot, so you can pass it off as a cup of tea, see), served with equally exotic (coconut and strawberry, lemon curd) cupcakes. Yum.

But oh the May Fair – we’re slightly tiring of your celeb ambassadors. If it’s not the ghastly Peaches Geldof, or the dreadful Danny Dyer, or some footballers better known for their extramaritals than their prowess on the pitch, it’s mega-boobed glamour model Jordan, who used to be popular until she went all kamikaze on us this summer, or her ex, the drippy Peter Andre (speaking on the May Fair's Youtube channel here).

To be fair to the hotel, it’s only allowed to talk about the guests who want publicity. Also, when we asked this morning, they swore blind that, seeing as it was the official hotel for the London Film Festival which finished this week, it had loads of A-listers staying this month – it just had to keep hushed up about them. May Fair, we hear you on that. But you might want to take your ambassadors up a notch if you want to keep your trendy image.

(Ps: Just to clarify, we don't categorise Mel B as part of the despo lot – we won’t hear a word against her. Ahem)
