Denver's Oxford Hotel Hosts December Tea For Dolls

It used to be that you go into an American Girl store (one of the few) and get afternoon tea in the store's little restaurant with your doll. We're pretty sure that doesn't exist anymore, so how about reliving those old glory days at Denver's Oxford Hotel, which hosts an annual "Doll's Tea Party" for moms and dads, daughters and their dolls.

This year's special day will be December 6, and we recommend making reservations soon. Of course the hotel is offering a hotel package for guests who may not live in Denver, or just want to prolong the experience as a family event. The combination with a night at the hotel begins at only $200 and includes one adult and one child's ticket to the tea, stay in a superior room, and milk and cookies delivered at turn-down.

For either the morning tea session (11am to 12:30pm) or the afternoon tea (2:30pm-4pm), adults cost $40 and children under 12, $20. That's without the overnight package, but what do you get for just the tea? Well, quite a good show, it seems:

The Oxford Doll's Tea Party is a traditional tea (with cocoa for the children) which includes a light snack of tea sandwiches and assorted treats. The festive party is set in the beautifully decorated Oxford Hotel. The highlight of the Tea Party is a whimsical ballet performance designed especially for the children. The children have an opportunity to meet the ballerinas at the end of the party; parents please bring your cameras for this wonderful photo opportunity.

There's no restriction on what type of doll you can bring, but we're betting that quite a few little girls have American Girls or even Barbies they're dying to take to tea. Does your daughter's stuffed rainbow bunny have a taste for Earl Grey? Bring him along; The Oxford Hotel isn't discriminating.

For reservations, e-mail dollstea(at)theoxfordhotel.com or call 303-628-5494.
