The Five Best Hotels For Halloween Weekend

It's the most wonderful time of the year--Halloween! Even better, our favorite holidays falls on a weekend this year so you can celebrate both Mischief Night and Halloween without having to deal with a hangover at work the next day. Although we can't promise you that your coworkers won't show up in witch, cat and devil costumes on Friday anyways.

If you're planning on taking your costumes to another city this Halloween, we've put together a list of five hotels that are close enough to the scary action in town but at which you can still get a good night's sleep. After all, who really wants to sleep in a room haunted by ghosts or worse, The Shining Hotel? That film was scary! We'd like a good night's sleep instead, whether it be vodka-induced or not.

1. London West Hollywood
This hotel is just off Santa Monica Boulevard so it's close to the famous Costume Carnaval that runs through town but the hotel is also inviting guests to a special "Witching Hour" event at the poolside bar on Halloween, featuring Halloween-inspired cocktails and appetizers at discounted prices. On Sunday morning, the hotel's Boxwood Café will offer a "Recovery Brunch" ($50 per person) from 11:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. You better get in line for the Bloody Mary bar.
Room rates start at $199 a night on Halloween weekend.

2. W Atlanta Buckhead
We admit it, we liked this hotel in Atlanta because of the deal. Hotwire alerted us that guests who book the W Atlanta Buckhead a complimentary room upgrade from now through December 30. But it's not like there's nothing scary in A-town. The Darkside Tours offers nightly ghost tours through the city for $15 for adults. The 90-minute walk takes you through ghost stories of civil war soldiers and by a scene of a deadly hotel fire whose victims still haunt the place. If you're not into ghosts, you could go peruse the "Real Housewives of Atlanta's" wig collection for a scary jolt.
Room rates start at $125 a night.

3. Hotel Chelsea
Ok, so staying at The Hotel Chelsea is flat-out scary any time of the year, not only because Sid Vicious was accused of killing his girlfriend Nancy Spungen here but because the place is ancient and haunted-looking. Not to mention that some of the residents that live there are scarier than see-through ghosts. But whether or not you make down to the Greenwich Village Halloween parade, you can still expect to be spooked hanging out here.
Room rates start at $169 a night on Mischief Night for a shared bathroom room. A standard room is going for $249. Halloween night is sold out on the hotel's website but Expedia is showing standard rooms for $345 a night.

4. Caesars Palace
No hotel list would be complete without a Vegas hotel so we've picked Caesars Palace for the Halloween Weekend. The hotel is doing a Trick or Tweet promo offering its Twitter followers (@CaesarsPalace) special booking rates, spa passes, complimentary in-room WiFi, VIP passes to PURE and a $50 resort credit. Also, throughout the weekend @CaesarsPalace will be tweeting giveaways like free booze and food at different locations throughout the resort. It surely beats sitting at home with a bag of candy. However, do expect a slew of togas and gladiator costumes during your stay.
Rates average $262 a night on Expedia but the Trick or Tweet promo promises rooms at $175 a night.

5. Hotel Monteleone
New Orleans can be deceptively spooky. There's fun to be had with jazz, beignets and tours of the Garden District but there is a thriving dark side to the city with its vampire lore, cemetery tours and Voodoo magic. The Hotel Monteleone, however, is keeping it somewhat light. The "Halloween Murder Mystery Weekend" package offers guests two nights stay, welcome hors d'oeuvres, a costumed breakfast, lunch and dinner on Halloween and a Sunday brunch where the murder of the weekend will be solved. Expect the hotel's famous Carousel Bar to be involved.
Rates start at $499 per person.
