The Distrikt Hotel Will Open 'Late Fall'

Fall is here, and the Halloween decorations have sprouted. Which reminds us: Wasn’t the Distrikt Hotel in Hell’s Kitchen meant to be opening on October 28? We thought so, but when we skipped over to the hotel’s website today we noticed they are now saying, “Opening Late Fall 2009.” What counts as “late fall,” we wonder? Mid-November?

Quite possibly. Last time we checked, there were just a couple of rooms at the Distrikt available for October 28—but today, the earliest date we could find using the online reservation system was November 16. The best rate available was $309 a night for a Queen, although we found a $279 a night rate for later dates, including November 22, and November 27.

No word yet on whether the hotel moved the opening date back, if it will be in soft-opening mode between October 28–November 16, or if it will be open before Halloween but is already sold out.

What we do know is the Distrikt is giving away a five-night-stay at the hotel, and a $2500 American Express Gift Card. You can enter by choosing your favorite districts and punching in your details at the hotel’s website before November 1st. (What do you think the odds of the winning district being the hotel’s own, Midtown West, are?)

Apart from the contest, the Distrikt’s website is dropping a few more hints about what to expect once the hotel makes its debut: Rooms will include Frette linens and robes, Ecru New York bath amenities, 37” flatscreen TVs, and an iHome docking station radio/alarm clock. It looks like only the higher-priced rooms (Superior Doubles and Deluxe Kings) will offer complimentary WiFi. But if this rendering showing ghostlike guests are anything to go by, there will be free WiFi in the lobby as well.
