You And Mitt Romney Will Have a Marriott Room For Inauguration

This just in: we just received a tip that Marriott has some last-minute open rooms for Barack Obama's January 20th inauguration. Our tipster writes:

Marriott has opened rooms over Inauguration at hotels in the District. The Washington Marriott at Metro Center, the Washington Marriott, the Washington Courtyard Embassy Row, and the Washington Courtyard Convention Center, the Courtyard Washington Northwest, and the Renaissance Washington DC are all in prime locations within walking distance of everything.

It looks like the prices are seriously jacked up — we found a room at the Courtyard Washington Northwest for $499 — but if you wanna go to inauguration, that ain't gonna stop you at this point.

Speaking of Marriott and presidents, the company announced today that politician and former presidential-hopeful Mitt Romney has once again been named to Marriott's Board of Directors. You may recall his previous term on the board — a period for which he was later criticized for not trying harder to fight against what he and his people referred to as the "cesspool of pornography."

It will be interesting to see how gay-rights activists react to this appointment, considering the firestorm that the Mormon-family-run Marriott faced when Proposition 8 passed (and the steps Mr. Marriott himself took to put out the flames) up against Romney's vocal stance on the marriage issue (per his website: "Governor Romney supports a Federal Marriage Amendment defining marriage as between one man and one woman.")

Well, at any rate (ha), at least now we know Mitt will have a Marriott hotel room so he can watch Obama become the president.
