There's tons of hotel news flying around this week and we don't have time to give each and every story the love and attention it may deserve, so you will have to settle for some news briefs.

· MGM Grand Las Vegas Facebooks: And not only that, it has 7,000 fans. Now they can officially hold a Facebook Fans Only night in the hotel's 5,000 rooms. [Facebook]

· Hotel Chelsea Gets a Film: All the management drama and shenanigans at the Hotel Chelsea has gotten them a film from documentary-maker Abel Ferrara. [Page Six]

· Suspicious Hotel Reviews?: Still-under construction Hotel Shangri-La Santa Monica gets two glowing reviews on the same day. We are cynics over here so we wonder who really wrote these? [TripAdvisor]

· Hyatt Place Opens in Wyoming, Michigan: It's the only hotel in the area. We are wondering who will ever go there. [WZZM13]

· Fargo Hotels Sell Out for AC/DC Concert: It turns out, aging rock bands are good for the stagnant hotel economy. Fargo hotels are filling up fast for AC/DC concert. [Grand Forks Herald]

Not All from LA or NY

Yes, we get it.  Based on your posts, you seem to believe that New York and Los Angeles are tops as far as US hotels go.  Yet, your attempt at humor merely works to belittle people that don't live in those locales.

RE:  Hyatt Place Opens in Wyoming, Michigan

"It's the only hotel in the area. We are wondering who will ever go there."

This comment seems to imply that no one needs to visit Wyoming, Michigan.  Yet, if you actually bothered to check, you'd find out that Wyoming is a suburb of Grand Rapids.  While this might be the only hotel the suburb, it is part of a metropolitan area that has a population of over 700,000.

Incidently, Grand Rapids is home to a JW Marriott hotel.  So if you think it's a town in the middle of nowhere, think again.  And, next time you should think before you belittle an area just because it's not NY or LA.
