On Friday, The W Honolulu Will Be No More

UPDATE: The hotel is now known as The Lotus at Diamond Head.
It's been rumored before that the W Honolulu would be leaving the W Hotels collection, but it looks like this time is for realz.
According to the Hawaii Insider, the hotel's last day as a W hotel will be January 9th.
Taking over management on Friday will be the Anekona real estate group, which bought the property in 2004 and, according to Pacific Business News, had to put $1.6 million into renovations in 2007 to meet W's corporate standards.
All current bookings will be honored for the hotel but obviously the new hotel group will not be participating in the Starwood Preferred Guest Program. No new name for the hotel has been announced either. We just hope their rates will be a little less than what the W was charging.
Unfortunately, the new management still won't be able to do anything about the lack of ocean views (that's a lanai view above.)
