HC Goes Inside The Standard NYC

Go To The Hotel's Web
Site Where: 848 Washington Street [map], New York, NY, United States, 10014

The day of reckoning has, at long last, arrived. After months, nay years, of gawking, stalking and sulking over The Standard NYC from the cobblestones of the surrounding Meatpacking District, we have finally carried ourselves over the hotel's threshold and into bed. The Standard's introductory rates may have risen from $195 to $215, but our hopes remained steady.

Although you can expect the motherload of details and images when we whip out with the full review tomorrow, let us just say this: a corner room has all the temptation to turn guests into Peeping Toms.

    I'm sorry.

I'm going to say it. I don't like it. This is definitely a matter of personal taste, but I get a cruise ship/train car/70's ikea feel from it. Don't hate me. The colors remind me of my OBGYN's office. BUT THE VIEWS ARE SPECTACULAR! Still love you, Andre!

    Oh

I meant the view from the room, not the view in my OBGYN's office.

In the video it looks like some kind of mellow yellow submarine. We don't do yellow.

I agree.  I don't like it at all.

In this tough economy you're going to give me more than a double bed, tacky table and sub-par bathroom for high rates.

I'll pass, maybe next time Andre.
