Game Day Rivalry for Two Renaissance Hotels

January 30, 2009 at 12:20 PM | by juliana | 0 Comments

It's no secret hotels love the Super Bowl and it's not just hotels in the host city either. (This year it's Tampa.) Two Renaissance Hotels, one in Pittsburgh and one in Glendale, Ariz., have wagered a friendly bet with each other over who will win the game. No money is involved but the losing team's pride will definitely be crushed.

the day after the Big Game, which is Feb. 1, the General Manager in the losing city will welcome guests in the lobby wearing the winning team’s jersey. From Feb. 2 to 8, 2009, the hotel lounge in the losing city will feature a food special named for the champion team, and will offer it free to guests who show a driver’s license listing the winning city’s address (Pittsburgh, Pa. or Glendale, Ariz.).

In Glendale, if the Steelers beat the Cardinals, the Renaissance Glendale Resort and Spa will serve The Roethlisburger #7, a 7-ounce ground Angus beef burger with fried eggs, American cheese, mayonnaise, shredded lettuce and green chili sport relish on a hoagie roll.

In Pittsburgh, if the Cardinals beat the Steelers, the Bridge bar at the Renaissance Pittsburgh Hotel will serve the Arizona Cardinal Wings. These items are free so long as you show your winning state license and order a full-priced food or beverage item.

The Renaissance Pittsburgh is also going all out before the Super Bowl. Right now, if you show your "Terrible Towel" aka annoying fan gear you can register to win a two-night stay at the hotel.

Are you celebrating the Super Bowl in a hotel somewhere in America or even abroad? Let us know where and what's happening.
