It's not very often that we come across hotel news in Seattle, but for once they've got something both interesting and green going on in the rainy northwest. On February 1, the city's first LEED-certified hotel, Hyatt at Olive 8 will welcome its first guests, but wait to celebrate its grand opening on February 26. The hotel/condominium property has been selling packages since last summer, and finally they'll be able to show off everything from their eco-friendly spa to Urbane, their restaurants focusing on local and sustainable ingredients.

Obviously having an "8" in the hotel's name means that they will be crazy for theming packages and such around that number, and so keep your eyes open for more deals like their 8-happy CommemoRATE package. For now, they're offering up an economy-boosting "Pamper and Shop Til You Drop" special, including a night at the hotel, a $25 City Centre gift card, Macy's discount shopping pass, $50 Pacific Place gift card, spa access (including pool, sauna, and relaxation lounge), and breakfast for two at Urbane. Nightly rates start at $189 if you book online, because if you're staying at a LEED-certified hotel, you should do all you can to save paper.

    LEED

It is quite unlikley that the hotel will be LEED certified when it opens on Feb 1.  It takes about 6 months after construction is complete and final paperwork is turned in to recieve certfication.  For now it is correct to say that the hotel is designed to achieve LEED certfication.

    Seattle Is A Wonderful City

I'm a huge fan of Seattle. It is by far one of my favorite cities to visit. The Hyatt at Olive 8 looks spectacular, and will be my hotel of choice on my next visit!
