Official word on what to expect in the newly-revamped suite:
The Presidential Suite will feature an illustrative montage of the incoming President’s life and the 43 Presidents prior, displayed in chronological sequence throughout the suite, along with various Obama memorabilia, including campaign buttons, newspaper headlines, and seals of the various offices President-elect Obama has held throughout his political life. Guests will also find a selection of books throughout the suite, including those penned by Obama himself, including: Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance; The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream; and Change We Can Believe In: Barack Obama's Plan to Renew America's Promise.
Plus, apparently, a pretty serious portrait of our new prez's face is hanging in there. Guests staying overnight can gaze at the painting while munching on some of Barack and Michelle Obama's favorite snack foods and smelling the fresh flowers, both of which will be waiting in the room upon arrival.
The 1,850 square-foot suite welcomes its first guests today, and it can be yours at the price of $3,900 a night "by special invitation only." You can also book a Presidential Suite and Hometown Tour Package that runs $8,244 for two nights, which includes majorly kicked up amenities like access to the private lounge on the 15th floor, roundtrip airport transportation, museum passes and basketball or baseball tickets, $500 in mySpa gift certificates and $250 food and beverage credits. All of this, of course, is yours to use when you're not busy on your chauffeur-driven tour of Barack's favorite Chicago places (you get to pick which ones you want to hit up) in the hotel's Bentley Continental Flying Spur.
