The Hotel Hype Machine Will Keep On Chugging in 2009

January 2, 2009 at 1:22 PM | by juliana | 4 Comments

Every year around this time we put together a New York City openings preview where we round up the newest hotels set to open that year in New York. 2008 was actually a big year for the Big Apple with most of the city's anticipated hotels opening fast and furious in the last months of the year.

But looking ahead to 2009, we realize there are a lot of new hotels coming online this year and they aren't all clustered in New York. So starting next week we'll be taking a closer look at a few cities and regions that will be home to cool, new hotels in 2009. That is, if everything goes right. We'll do our best to give you precise opening predictions but we've misplaced our Magic 8 Ball and you know how those marble-stealing guerillas in Colombia can ruin things. Oh yeah, and the economy sucks.

For now, here's a little something to whet your hotel hype appetite.

    Usual cycle

Hotels are planned and built during the boom. The greater the boom, the more hotels start construction. Unfortunately, when the boom ends, we are left with an oversupply of hotels which will probably lost money for the first few years. Tourists though, will get great hotel rates as a result of the increased competition. Dubai rent Dubai apartments

    Trump Dubai

The Trump Dubai on the Palm Island (man made island) that was mwant to be the centrepiece of the island is still on hold. It was the most hyped hotel in the region with the craziest of prices for unit sales. Current state is that now in fact they have flattened the ground and removed all the initial foundation work they had done a few months ago. Can't imagine that it wont get built but on the other hand its difficult to see how they have the money to build it (nakheel or trump).

    Jobs

I have visited the site http://www.ExecCrossing.com and i can tell that it is a good source of jobs because it only shows you jobs from employer websites and every other job board out there. The site has more jobs than any other website that i have visited. This is a good way to track down jobs because these jobs are often not advertised. They have executive jobs, account executive jobs, and executive director jobs.
