We Wouldn't Mind Getting Lost Near Sin Duda Villas

We are suckers for a room with a killer view.  We find that we are even more likely to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if we can stare out the window at something pretty--yeah we are that shallow. Let's help out our fellow hotel mavens by uploading rooms with killer views to the HotelChatter/Flickr photo pool, or by sending the photo along to us. We will feature our favorites in this space from time to time. Remember to tell us the name of the hotel and the room number of the hot view.

Mmm. Thoughts of beaches and seclusion and being far from any major cities probably get you thinking about the return of Lost that's just around the corner, but for hotel geeks/travel addicts like ourselves, we get to thinking about hotel views like this one (even though Matthew Fox would make for a lovely killer view himself).

As we daydreamed of beaches on this dreary, snowy January day, our inbox glowed when we received this gorgeous shot (sent in by reader C.) of the view from a room at Sin Duda Villas on the Yucatan Peninsula.

A collection of six individual rooms and apartments — three private suites, two full apartments and one jungle studio — Sin Duda is located on the Costa Maya, "the Xcalak Peninsula at the frontier of Belize." It's about five hours from Cancun, 6 hours from Merida and 3 hours from Chetumal.

Accomodations are bright and funky and comfortable — not for those looking for a posh Four-Seasons-esque five-star resort — and rates start at a super comfortable $75.

Something that made us giggle: the website — which you should check out for yourself since the place looks quirky and different and we cannot do it justice here — has a specific section that refers vacationers to plastic surgeons since so many people apparently travel to Mexico to get a little work done.

Thanks again to reader C. for sending in this shot and for giving us a heads up on the resort!

I too am willing to forgive some minor hotel inconveniences if I can stare out the window at something pretty and the views at Sin Duda are indeed amazing. It's unfortunate that my daydreaming was so frequently interrupted by the ear splitting sound of Margo's affected bellow.
