Gwyneth Paltrow Fancies Herself a Hotel Connoisseur: The NYC Edition

January 15, 2009 at 10:31 AM | by Jenna | 0 Comments

Gwyneth Paltrow's "Lifestyle" website, GOOP, teaches us how to live like Gwyneth. Each section on the site — Make, Go, Get, Do, Be, See — contains links to weekly newsletters with a treasure trove of invaluable advice on how to do such things the way she wants us to, and each one reads like it's written by the GP herself.

This morning's newsletter — from the "Go" category — featured hotel reviews once again. Now that she's given us her LA hotel wisdom, it was only appropriate that we learn which NYC hotels are her faves. While she has an apartment in NYC, she's says she's been "redecorating my apartment for a year so I have recently stayed in many hotels. I have only included the ones that I loved, but I did include The Greenwich, which I have not yet seen."

Funny! When we redecorate our apartments, we either suck it up and sleep with the paint fumes or go stay with our moms.

A couple of Gwynnie's picks and commentary:

The Lowell
Gwynnie says: The Lowell is a small, quiet, uptown luxury hotel. The rooms are gorgeous, some with libraries and wood-burning fireplaces. I have stayed here numerous times and have loved every stay.

The Bowery
Gwynnie says: The Bowery has been one of my homes-away-from-home in the last year. It is a very cool spot, with the people to match. As it is located on Bowery I wouldn't recommend it to the Park Avenue set, but my English rock star friends can’t get enough of it.

Inn at Irving Place
Gwynnie says: This is a very rare gem in NYC. The Inn has 12 rooms and is appointed in beautiful Victorian décor but with all the comforts of modern life. NearGramercy Park, it is one of the most charming spots in the city.

The Mercer
Gwynnie says: The Mercer is a NY legend. The rooms are very comfortable and chic and it's right in the heart of SoHo. People watch in the lobby; it's pretty amazing.

Hey, Gwynnie sure loves to people-watch at hotels. Something about the thought of Gwyneth Paltrow sitting in a hotel lobby looking at everyone else seems a bit off to us — but it's kind of awesome. Celebrities: they're just like us.
