The Betsy Will Soft-Open in Early February

We just checked in on the currently-being-renovated Betsy Hotel in South Beach — formerly the Betsy Ross Hotel — and we've almost got an opening date!

Remember that The Betsy's new rooms, in all their preppy white and lavender glory, have had us excited for a while now — but as of December, all we had was an "Early 2009" opening date and the hotel still hadn't set an official day to throw open her doors.

But now we're getting closer: according to a staffer we spoke with today, we can expect a soft opening (which is usually code for operational but not quite so highly-publicized — and low rates!) the first couple of weeks of February. Look for news of a grand opening and for the hotel to be fully open and totally operational by the beginning of March.

While Betsy's still not taking rezzies, give her a ring anyway — she will take your name and give you a call as soon as she's ready for you. If you're interested in heading down to Miami for the South Beach Wine and Food Festival (starts February 19th!), we'd suggest putting your name down.
