This Fairmont is huge with 550 rooms and four restaurants, not to mention a plethora of winter activities, the most popular being skiing and snowboarding. And don't worry, there's a Vida Wellness Spa onsite to help you recuperate from all that hard work.
We arrived at the hotel for apres ski drinks and eats but ended up walking into the happy hour for a real estate conference. Needless to say there were a whole lotta dudes in the place and no seats. But we got lucky. After waiting around the Mallard Lounge for about a half-hour before a kind Canadian realty investor gave us his table.
While the Four Seasons Fifty Two 80 bar next door has more of a cozy living room vibe, the Mallard Lounge has floor to ceiling windows facing the slopes along with outdoor seating complete with fire pits. We preferred the menu over at the Four Seasons a bit better (the food was a little more creative) but the Fairmont's nachos were perfection. Also, how can we fault a bar that opens at 11am?

One thing going into the Fairmont that we wish we knew about before was their nightly Fondue event from 5 to 9pm. But we did get a taste of it as the hotel was offering fondue samples in front of its Wildflower restaurant. Yum.
Guestrooms categories at the hotel range from deluxe rooms to a variety of different suites. All have either slope or valley views. There are also swanky Fairmont Gold rooms available here. The hotel also has a fitness center, a business center, babysitting services, ski storage and a golf course to play on in the summer.
Room rates at the Fairmont are currently around $429CAD a night. However, the hotel is offering various packages and discounts so call the hotel directly at 604-938-8000 for the best rates. That said, there is an advanced purchase discount available for online reservations.
