The picture Starwood Maniac is referring to is this one, above. Like the rest of you readers, we are very excited about this property. Why? For starters, it's in a bustling metropolis that not only has a ton of culture but a lot of style too. In our humble opinion W made a misstep in opening W hotels to the masses of America. They really should have nailed down the popular international destinations like Barcelona (and insert your fave European city here) before opening in secondary markets in the U.S. (Does Atlanta really need 4 W Hotels?)
Second, this hotel has a great architect behind it, Ricardo Bofill, who has created a building that is unique and design-forward. Wasn't W once a hospitality leader in terms of design and style? We bet they can recapture that glory again with this hotel. We'll even overlook the cutesy W branding words like WoW, Wet, Whenever/Wherever and Wonderful Room. So...anybody interested in going to Barcelona with us this summer?
