After hitting up the bar and catching Cat Power, we wanted to see the heralded guest rooms. We were only able to peek into the standard room, the studio suite, and the deluxe studio suite. The penthouse and apartments were closed for--you guessed it--private parties.
Each room is different, for sure, because of the way the spaces are configured, so it's probably best to book over the phone and talk about what kind of windows and views you're getting.
We saw one studio suite that had magnificent corner window views and would pick that over a deluxe suite any day. Unless there's a deluxe suite with those kinds of views as well, it's hard to tell since there are so many different room categories, sizes, and prices.
Designer Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz's redesign vision comes from an Alice-in-Wonderland-type fantasy where is up is down and left is right. It is both whimsical and modern with lots of orange accenting black and white.
From the moment you walk in the door, you're blown over by the vibrant orange ADCB Bar. The guest rooms embrace the fantasy fullest. The hallways are dark with ivy patterns, so that when you enter the bright rooms with hard wood floors you are truly entering a dream.
The wallpaper echoes white ivy, the curtain rods curve out from the wall so in the dark the shadows look like tree trunks, the ivy pattern from the hall carpet is reflected in the table. Even their smallest guest rooms (at 325 square feet) feel deep and wide.

The TV is part of a large "looking glass" which is kind of weird, but also kind of cool and definitely something you won't see anywhere else. In the suites, it is double sided and revolving and serves as a mirror as well so you can do your makeup in the looking glass while watching TV.
Another weird thing: there is a sculpted hand centerpiece in each room holding an orange. The hand is there to help guide you through the world, we guess.
If you stayed here before, you have to return just to check out the redesign. It was gray and drab formerly, now it is sparkly and new. If you're coming to LA to embrace the entertainment industry and to get rich and famous (because there is no other reason to come here), this is the place to stay.
From the black and white subtle nods to film to the oft celebrity sitings, and now the fab redesign, this seems like it's the place to be and be seen.
Rates start at $495, or check out their design special which includes Noriega-Ortiz's design book at $475.
