The Palazzo Condo tower, which is currently being built in between The Venetian and The Palazzo hotel towers has now been officially named.

And.. Drumroll please... It's going to be the St Regis Residences at the Venetian Palazzo Las Vegas!

The project has been under construction since March, but just this week it was announced that it would end up being a St Regis. It's due to have 398 residences (some fully furnished even!) and they are expecting sales to reach over 2 billion dollars. Sputtering economy be damned!

No official word yet if the residences will be put into the Venetian/Palazzo's hotel room pool.

The development will not open until March 2010, but it is in good company as the Venetian/Palazzo casino property is often considered the nicest property on the strip. Sorry Steve.

Residents will have access to all of the Venetian and Palazzo's facilities, including 150 retail stores and 30 restaurants

So now Starwood has almost completed it's domination of Las Vegas. All of it's brands have a presence except W & LeMeridien. Cmon Starwood! Time's a-wastin!

wait, "the Venetian/Palazzo casino property is often considered the nicest property on the strip." when did that happen? did the wynn just burn down?

im also doubting a W anytime soo, as Starwood ran away screaming from that giant condo thing last summer.

The effect of this: Obviously Starwood  decided against making a Dual-branded (both W and St. Regis) Cosmopolitan property which was apparently the original plan. Will it be a W even?
