Green Hotel News :: Two Rydges Hotels Get Bronze Green Globes

September 26, 2008 at 10:50 AM | by | Comments (0)

The Rydges Hotel chain across Australia and New Zealand keeps a blog but if we're honest, it rarely produces any particularly interesting posts--and it doesn't help that they post on average once every six weeks. But today we read about their newly anointed Green Globe hotels and we're happy to spread the word.

The Green Globe benchmarking system is a pretty reliable way to decide that a hotel is seriously committed to being green. Taking into account aspects including energy efficiency, ecosystem conservation, local community and cultural management and waste minimization (and a lot more), the fact that two of the Rydges hotels have been awarded a Bronze level Green Globe certification is not to be sneezed at.

The greenest of the Rydges group are the Rydges Lakeland Resort Queenstown and the Capitol Square Hotel Sydney. They passed the test, and we presume Rydges is working on getting some more of their hotels into the Green Globe family, too.
