ZOMG! The Westin Riverfront is finally open. At least that's what they tell us. We've also heard rumors that there's an opening gala tonight, but we weren't invited. Sad face.

We can't wait to check out this new place for ourselves, especially with it's fancy "green" features: recycling stations on every floor, preferred parking for hybrid cars (not sure exactly what this means, since everything is valet anyway), and an on-site organic garden (nice touch, Westin).

Rates are still listed at the killer rate of $119/night for a studio suite with king size bed and pull out couch. We're told you can reserve online but we can't find the rate. Call them and they should honor it.

They've also got some stellar packages: Girlfriend Getaway Package, a River Explorer Package ($279 for two nights, a stocked fly box, and guide to the river), and Master the Mountain Golf Getaway ($199 per night for two people, includes lodging and two rounds of golf). Again, call them about these. The website is more for looks, we think.

    Hybrids?

I'm so SICK and TIRED of preferential treatment for hybrids.  Just because a car is a hybrid doesn't mean the owner of that car cares of the environment.

I work from home and drive a Honda Civic del Sol.  I put on (maybe) 40 miles/week.  Compare that to a hybrid owner that commutes 40 miles/day.  Who is the one that is best helping the environment?  Me, clearly.  Yet, I get no preferential treatment!

Screw this environmental crap and look at the true carbon footprint when handing out special perks.
