But what we're truly taken aback by is the "Pumpkin Fried Dough" on the dessert menu. Seriously, there's something called "fried dough" on the menu at the Ritz.
Now, we understand that pumpkin can be a challenging ingredient, but we expect something more along the order of a sweet pumpkin pâté from the Ritz-Carlton. But fried dough? Is the chef getting his inspiration from Chuck E. Cheese now? We just can't imagine sitting in any Ritz-Carlton, especially not one that houses a $1 million art collection, pieces of which are found in the Gallery restaurant, and telling a server, "I'd like a Grey Goose martini, dirty please. Oh, and bring me some o' that fried dough."
But then again, maybe that's the fun part.
We must also point out that we found one very redeeming item on this menu: the chocolate fondue that consists of melted Valrhona chocolate and vanilla, orange and chocolate cinnamon marshmallows for dipping. Anything with Valrhona makes us melt.
