Amongst all the other news from these past few weeks, did you happen to catch that a literal Fashion Emergency was issued for London's Fashion Week? Well, London's struggle to keep its brief time in the style spotlight came to a favorable end a few days ago when representatives from the four fashion capitals - New York, London, Paris and Milan - held a summit at The May Fair Hotel in London.

Safely ensconced in the glossy 5-star May Fair, an official host hotel of London Fashion Week, the powers that control the agenda of every fashionista discussed conflicting 2009 schedules. Happily, London hoteliers need not stress as the decision was made to only cut London's Fashion Week by one day so that New York designers can party through Labor Day.

This wasn't the only consolation made at The May Fair, as the hotel itself has to adapt to the needs of the mercurial trendsetters who monopolize it for one week a year.  As an answer, The May Fair took the trendy route by providing health-conscious drinks and a "Reviver Bar" of wheatgrass shots, oxygen fixes and an energy-boosting cocktail with vodka.

If you've already got The May Fair on your radar and want to experience a little bit of the hotel's fashion heritage, we've already extolled the virtues of sleeping in the pink satin cloud that is the Schiaparelli Suite. Named for a couturier contemporary of Chanel, Elisa Schiaparelli introduced the world to the color "shocking pink" and leaned toward Dada and Surrealist creations. Knowing this, you shouldn't be surprised at the clashing style and fuchsia furnishings of the suite. The clashing style of the fashion set is another matter.
