Wyndham Spins Plastic Bottles Into Staff Uniforms

While W Hotels' cocktail waitresses will be serving up beverages while wearing Gwen Stefani-designed uniforms, the entire Wyndham Hotels staff will be greeting you in uniforms made of beverage containers.

Seriously upping the eco-ante, Wyndham mandates that all staff be kitted-out in the new uniforms, made from recycled plastic bottles, by early 2010.

The good news is that the recycled outfits won't be limited to a few styles; Cintas has designed and manufactured two whole collections, one aiming for a "retail-inspired, upscale contemporary look" while the other is directly geared towards island resorts.

Faith Taylor, VP of Sustainability and Innovation for Wyndham Worldwide, is already a fan:

Cintas answered the call by selecting trendy, eco-conscious garments that are machine washable, easily modified and mixed-and-matched for a more personal look."

Wyndham may be the first hotel chain to launch the uniforms system-wide, but they are far from pioneers when it comes to eco-suiting.

That distinction belongs to Bagir Group, a green clothing manufacturer already peddling their $200 recycled-bottle suits in Sears stores around the country.
