Teplitzky's General Manager, Michael Goins describing The Chelsea's Dining Options

Normally when we do a hotel review, our thoughts about the restaurant and nightlife is combined into the main review - but for The Chelsea in Atlantic City which has not one, but two Stephen Starr dining spots, and a nightlife spot hosted by Paul Sevigny and Matthew Abramcyk it deserves its own post.

TEPLITZKY'S COFFEE SHOP

Teplitzky's name comes from the original owners of a restaurant that was located where the Chelsea now stands. This coffee shop is open 24/7 during the summer, and 24 hours a day during the weekend in the off-season. It even includes a fully-stocked bar. Mimosa with breakfast? Late night nightcap? Teplitzky's is your place.

Everything from the waitress's uniforms to the chairs and barstools has a major 50's/60's feel. You almost feel like you're on a movie set. During the summer, the wall of glass in the "Green Room" portion of the restaurant is opened allowing the Salt Water Pool area and the restaurant to become one.

Teplitzky's Stephen Starr menu does not disappoint, featuring atypical menu items, such as Chorizo Shrimp Quesadilla (shrimp & red peppers in a quesadilla) or their "Famous" Perogies. Unfortunately, Teplitzky's has a limited menu and pricing is a bit on the high end (breakfast for two was $35 not including tip). Yet the the food is definitely worth the price, unlike most other hotel restaurants.

CHELSEA PRIME

Chelsea Prime is a steakhouse that is open for dinner every night and is designed to look like a 40's supper club, complete with raised u-shaped booths that line one wall. Just like Teplitzky's, Chelsea Prime is not your average hotel restaurant. Looking out the windows which surround the restaurant on three sides, all we could see was the ocean, making us feel like we were on a cruise ship.

The pricing was about right for a high-end steak house in a hotel, about $70 per person. Our steak pick? The bone-in filet which makes our mouths water just thinking about it.

THE 5th FLOOR

It's partytime here. The 5th Floor nightlife area is made up of three separate rooms, The Game Room, The Bar and The Terrace.

While the night we were there wasn't one for the record books (Chole Sevigny was there the week before), the music rocked and the drinks were flowing.

What makes this area so lively is the decor. The Game Room has has a pool table in the center of the room. The Bar is covered in faux snake skin with velvet walls and The Terrace is surrounded in maple wood, giving off an outdoorsy vibe.

Matthew Abramcyk and Paul Sevigny from NYC celeb hotspot The Beatrice Inn are managing all nightlife elements of the Fifth Floor, ensuring that the hipness quotient of the place is on par with whatever is hot right now in the city.

The duo are also responsible for bringing in celebs (like Paul's sister Chloe), DJs and other talent. Oh yeah, and the crowds, which we don't think will be too hard of a job.

As for entry to the Fifth Floor, anyone can get in. There's no need to flash a keycard or plead with security that you are really a hotel guest.

We have to say we were skeptical about a place in Atlantic City that didn't have a casino gaming component but between all this, we think we can manage our time here just fine.
