Peninsula New York's 20th Anniversary Rate
$20 for the second night

The Peninsula Hotel New York on posh Fifth Avenue (with even posher room rates) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and as a way to commemorate the occasion the hotel is offering rooms for $20 a night.

There is a bit of a catch, guests have to "choose" between rates starting from $1,300 for a superior room to $4,500 for a deluxe suite. Then the second night in that room is only $20. (Just so you know, the seasonal rate right now for a superior room is $1,300.)

However, when we were browsing CheapOair.com's new hotel booking tools, we came across the Peninsula listing a Grand Luxe room (which is two categories up from a superior) for $1,175 and the second night was $20.

So by our calculations that's $1,195 for two nights in a room that would cost $1,075 each night. It's still close to $700 a night for the room when you factor in the dreaded NY taxes but here at the Peninsula, that's a bargain.
