Dropping in for a look between shows, we entered the W lounge through glass doors emanating that sweet purple glow, only to emerge into a futuristic ice cave packed with celebs and their hangers-on.
On one end of the small space is the elevated DJ booth, where Samantha Ronson and Lindsay Lohan chilled after Samantha's sister Charlotte showed her collection. Brother Mark Ronson has been in and out of the lounge, stocking up on packets of Pop Rocks and Pop Burger sliders at the bar.
At times, the white leather banquettes almost looked like a Gossip Girl episode, as most of the cast members had to show their faces in front rows all week. Not to be left out, even the triumphant Williams sisters came straight from winning at the US Open to lounge here, surrounded by abstract photos of W properties.
Since Fashion Week is literally riddled with such famous faces, we were more impressed by some special touches inside the W lounge, including the $4000 Karim Rashid Globalight for Veuve Clicquot and unlimited $14 bottles of Christian Lacroix Evian water. Add to that a swag bag with a purple etch-a-sketch, the W "Wonderlust" CD, kaleidoscope glasses, and the Jimmy Jane "intimacy kit" and it's a serious party.
But aside from the photos and renderings on display of the new W Hotels, this backstage lounge is really only about getting A-listers to pose against W Hotels signage. Hotel Geeks might be thoroughly disappointed. Fashionistas and Lindsay Lohan fans, of course, will not be. [ Photo: W Hotels Backstage Blog]
