With all the hullabaloo about the significance of Lucky Number 8 and the opening of the Olympic Games on 8-8-08 at 8pm, little surprise then that Hyatt's Olive 8 Hotel in Seattle is rolling out three new packages with Eight as the backbone. However, there is something a little different about this hotel than the others that have 8-8-08 deals---it's not open yet.

The hotel is expected to open in December but they still are trying to take advantage of the 8 date by offering three packages for people to use when the hotel does finally open.

The "CommemoRATE" deal offers the first 20 guests requesting the package an $88 room charge, an $80 gift certificate (for a "soon to be announced on-site hotspot"), and eight Olive 8 martini glasses.

Even better, your room fee entirely kicks back to Earthshare.org, a nonprofit supporting environmental awareness. Book anytime between today and August 21, 2009.

If you're getting married on 8/8/08 (and can show your marriage certificate), you're in like Flynn. The first 50 couples to book the hotel's "Love It" Package, for $188, will get you both an 80-minute massage, an $80 voucher for a dinner for two, and a bottle of Chateau San Michelle champagne. It ain't Veuve Cliquot, but we'll take it.

Finally, if you have an August 8 birthday and can show proof, you're also in -- the hotel will put you up for a night free (to the first 50 registering guests who are 18+, and book anytime now between 8/09/09).

All the packages have to be booked through their hotel's temporary website -- no mention in the fine print of how to prove your date of birth or marriage date. Anyway, if you can't cash in on all that groovy 8 stuff, try the Olive 8--it's LEED certified. Or it will be anyways, when it opens in December.
