We know how hard it can be to get exercise while traveling (especially when hotels charge extra for the fitness center!) In fact, the scale tends to tell the truth about vacation dining. Backroads Travel Company has an answer to this problem: Northern California Winery Biking Tour!

That's right. In addition to sipping wine and living the high life, vacationers will get their exercise with 20-30 mile daily rides through Sonoma Country during this weekend tour of Alexander Valley right in the heart of wine country.

At the end of the day, kick back at the Geyserville Inn, a family-run inn with views of mountains and vineyards and a jacuzzi for sore muscles.

It feels a little pricey at $1,198 per person (based on double occupancy), but boasts a total all-inclusive affair with two night's stay, meals, rentals, and a van to give you a lift when that last mile is just too steep.

We're a little worried about the Inn: for that price we'd want to kick back at somewhere a little nicer than the Geyserville which has some pretty negative reviews on TripAdvisor and is categorized as a budget inn. (For $400 more you can choose the "Premiere Inn" package and stay at the Madrona Manor in Healdsburg.)

We'd recommend booking at extra night at the Galleria Park Hotel in San Francisco where a Backroads shuttle drops you off at the end of your adventure to really relax. (Of if you want to pony up $400, you can do the premiere version which puts you at the Madrona Manor.)

The weekend biking tour is the first of several new trips offered by Backroads which normally has week-long excursions.

To book this package or take a peek at the detailed itinerary, check our their website or call 800-462-2848.
