One of the things we most dislike about travel is that awkward time between arriving in a city and being permitted the honor of dumping our suitcase in our room, brushing our teeth and heading out for proper fun.

On the other end of the trip, we hate the undignified rush to check out, especially when our flight doesn't leave until later that evening.

Hotel limbo is no fun for anyone. That why we are so excited about the Brown Palace Hotel's special offer for Perfect Escapes guests to check in as early as noon and check out as late as 2 p.m. - and at a rate of $189 to boot!

This special also includes a hotel credit of $25 (room service anyone?), free high speed internet, breakfast for two and a room upgrade (if available of course, darlings).

This hotel is fresh off the Democratic National Convention where it hosted The Huffington Post's "Oasis." Check out these pics of Katie Couric doing yoga here.

While you can select from either a Victorian room or an Art Deco deluxe room, we say wander around and ask for a peek at the dent in the mantel of the Eisenhower suite - a souvenir left when the President made a bad swing while practicing golf in his room. (Yes, golf. In his room.)

And the Brown (which has hosted everyone from the Beatles to most modern U.S. Presidents) does not discriminate against the four-legged members of our family. Check in with your dear doggies (hand over the $75 fee) and you can be sure of a warm welcome (and special goodies).

One person will not be staying here

I am pretty sure this ABC News producer won't be staying at the Brown anytime soon.
