We first heard about the Casa Dell'Arte in Bodrum, Turkey from the Travel + Leisure list of this year's top 30 new hotels, and now we can see for certain it made this list for a good reason.

Casa Dell'Arte--"Hotel of Arts and Leisure", as the website says--is a genuine art hotel, run by a family who also have an art gallery in Istanbul.

On any visit you'd have a chance to see about 200 paintings in various spots around the hotel, but the owners rotate these with their Istanbul collection. Most of their collection is by Turkish artists.

Casa Dell'Arte has 12 suites and they're loosely designed to each represent one sign of the zodiac--at least that's the basic design principle behind them. The rooms are mostly decorated in cream and white colors so that the paintings have good breathing space--which makes it feel rather like you're really sleeping in an art gallery. We're not sure if that's quite as cosy as other hotels might be, but it's certainly the right spot for art lovers.

There are a few nice bonuses at Casa Dell'Arte--for example, the vintage car collection which guests are apparently allowed to drive around in. There's also WiFi in the rooms and we're so refreshed to hear them describe it as a "customary service" like air-con and the minibar. Nice pictures on the walls, nice internet service--that's already a great start.
