We especially like the fact that they've stepped up their eco-efforts from adopting a Desert Tortoise, a threatened species in the Sonoran Desert, to recycling more than 200 tons of paper, glass, plastics and aluminum to now, getting the used grease monkey off their back and into the engines of diesels vehicles throughout Arizona.
Nevertheless, as Fairmont prides itself on catering to the every whim of its incessantly demanding, luxury-lapping guests, it's only natural that we should want -and expect--more, especially given that Fairmont Hotels launched its Green Partnership, a company-wide commitment to minimize the hotels' environmental impact, in 1990.
While we think all of these green initiatives are noble on the part of the Fairmont Scottsdale, we'd also like to see some eco-efforts that will touch us directly. And we don't just mean buying local produce and serving organic chicken in the restaurant.
When are those wasteful little bottles of bathroom amenities going to be eliminated and replaced with mounted shower fixtures filled with biodegradable soap and shampoo? Perhaps that treat dispenser known as the minibar could carry at least a few items that gives a portion of the proceeds to an enviro-centric organization?
No rush Fairmont but just in case you're in need of some new "green" ideas.
Hats off to the
