The Wi-Fi didn’t work, and the desk said that they didn’t know when it would be repaired. Another call downstairs —for help finding a good nearby restaurant on a Sunday night — produced a promise to help, but was never followed up. All in all, the service was polite but ineffectual.
While it all sounds like a good idea, the modern hotel is more an aspiration than a reality. Some of the décor fails to inspire and other inspires Arthur C. Clarke related thoughts. And the up and coming neighborhood? More coming later, not much up now.
Fortunately, places like Bordeaux have a lot going for them. Since the town is named after wine, getting tourists there shouldn't be rocket science and as long as the wine is flowing, keeping them happy or at least oblivious to service flaws, shouldn't be too hard.
