Fifth Floor at the Chelsea Hotel is "Retro and Suave" and Possibly Awesome
Down by the Hipster ventured out to Atlantic City to experience the brand new Chelsea Hotel's nightspot, the Fifth Floor. And -- though skeptical of the party scene in AC -- they managed to party it up until 4 am.
The space, which they called "retro and suave" (wait, we're still talking about something in AC, right?) had a poolside bar, a funky "throwback game room", a lounge and a terrace, and guests are supposed to be able to move from room to room to check out the difference scenes kinda like a big house party.
While DBTH reported that Friday night was quiet, the space successfully hosted a totally kickass party on Saturday night -- though it was full of NYC folk, not "shore regulars." LCD Soundsystem even showed up!
Alright. We realize we sound like dorks when we're trying to describe a party someone else went to, so we'll allow DBTH to take over delivery of the final verdict:
If the Chelsea wanted to show that the NYC kiddies would be willing to trek down to the dirty dirty, this is certainly a good start. Those who were there certainly learned first hand that you can have fun in Atlantic City. But how did they enjoy the shore regulars that had to gawk at their VIP treatment? And will that turn the regulars off? We certainly shall see.
Yes, DBTH, we certainly will.
