Would You Pitch a Tent in the Terminal Instead of Booking a Hotel Room?

Little compares with a cozy snuggle in a tent pitched in the middle of the wilderness, with just your tent-mate and some polyurethane-coated nylon to protect you from roaming grizzlies and the elements. Or, you know, flight attendants and cranky travelers, at least according to Frank Giotto, creator of the Mini Motel.

Essentially a one-person backpacking tent, the portable lodging is meant for travelers who don't want to shell out for a hotel when their flight is canceled or delayed (let's hear it for optimism!).

The carryon-friendly tent can be crammed into a laptop bag--ready to pitch at a moment's notice--and comes stocked with pleasantries like an air mattress, pillow, bed sheet, alarm clock, reading light, toothbrush and toothpaste, ear plugs, and eye shades.

No word yet on TSA's reaction to potential tent cities cropping up in airports. But at $49.95 a pop, it's hard to imagine Mini Motels becoming the next must-have accessory. Then again, pop-up hotels seem to be kind of popular too.
