Travelodge Opens 'Recyclable' Hotel Made of Shipping Containers

Oh Travelodge Hotels, you so crazy.

First it was those insane pajamas. Then came the nude sleepwalkers study. Let's not forget the free rooms for people who happen to be named Mary and Joseph when Christmastime comes around, or the option to have the sweet aroma of grass wafted into guestrooms overnight.

And then there was that recyclable hotel you told us you were building. And, like, we knew you were into some crazy stuff -- but it seems you've actually gone and done this thing because we hear your hotel made out of recycled modified steel shipping containers is now open.

The 120-room Travelodge in Uxbridge has, apparently, been constructed using 86 steel containers "fitted together like giant Lego blocks."

When we first heard about the concept, we were told the rooms would be outfitted with all the traditional creature comforts: bathroom, wardrobe, mirror, desk and chair, and even a plasma TV. Hopefully they've followed through on all that cause, like, we could sleep in a shipping crate for free.

The hotels are supposedly able to be assembled and disassembled fairly quickly, though we can't help but remain partial to those awesome French pop-up porta-pottyish hotel rooms when it comes to those types of temporary accommodations.
